After a stressful week I finally illustrated my cover for Treasure Island!
After asking some people on their opinions on my cover, some responses was to make the colours a bit darker. I did just that and I am glad I made this change as it made it more stand out.
It may have been quite typical of me to illustrate a ship on the cover, but overall I think the design is child friendly. Whether or not it seems appropriate for 10-12 year olds I'm not so sure, but I like simplicity of the composition itself. Things I would improve upon would be to consider the text of the blurb and also perhaps elements like the ship could have been drawn more in detail to suit my target audience.
