I went to visit the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth, (my hometown away from uni) and thought I would immerse myself to get a feel for what the characters experienced, being aboard on a ship. I went to HMS Victory- which was the ship Admiral Lord Nelson fought in during the Battle of Trafalgar.
I took a ton of photographs and gained loads of inspiration and reference material to start the visuals for my book illustrations for Treasure Island.
It was a great experience, and got some location drawing done too (which the drawings will be shown on the next post!).
