30 Day Drawing Challenge

I thought I would do a post today just to let you know more about me.
Last month in June I did this 30 day drawing challenge- it's a list that I found on Pinterest where it asked me to draw something different everyday. Seeing that there was 30 days in June, I thought it would be perfect to take on this challenge!

This might turn out to be a very, very, very long post, so be warned...

This was the list I printed out before starting the challenge, and I crossed out the day when I completed each drawing.

Day 1: Yourself. I did this drawing from observation, with me staring at my reflection. From my point of view I look younger than I do here. I don't know if it's because I see myself as a child.

Day 2: Your Favourite Animal. My favourite animal are rabbits. They're just so cute and adorable! This drawing was inspired by an old pet I had when I was younger, called Georgina.

Day 3: Your Favourite Food. Being Filipino, I love the usual Asian dishes like noodles, etc. These are the foods that make me full when I'm hungry!

Day 4: Your Favourite Place. Mine would have to be my room, as it's the place where I mostly create my drawings, paintings and listen to music to escape from the world. As most of you may know, pink is my obsession and the colour just makes me so happy!

Here is a panoramic shot of my room to show evidence!

Day 6: Your Favourite Book. My favourite genre of books are romantic novels, and so my favourite book would have to be My Name Is Memory by Ann Brashares. It's such a beautifully put together story, and even made me cry a few times whilst I was reading it! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is also a hopeless romantic.

Day 7: Your Favourite Movie. Again, my favourite genre of film is Romance. Especially the tear jerkers. My favourite movie by far is A Walk To Remember, based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. Being sensitive, I have cried so many times whilst watching this film.

Day 8: Your Favourite Animated Character. I have so many that I love, seeing as I'm a big Disney fan, but in the end I chose Rapunzel from Tangled as I relate to her in so many ways.

Day 9: Your Favourite T.V. Show. I couldn't just pick one so I ended up drawing two...because I'm a rebel, hehehe. At the moment my current favourites are The Apprentice and New Girl. Both are a complete contrast- The Apprentice being more of a show where business people moan and shout at each other, and New Girl being more quirky (I love Zoey Deschanel!) Nonetheless, both shows are completely hilarious and I love the comedy behind them.

Day 10: Your Favourite Candy. These are my favourite sweets; the time when I do eat them I get all hyper. At the moment I am trying to avoid sweets, so if you give me any I will sadly refuse it...unless if I'm dying of hunger then that is the only exception.

Day 11: A Turning Point In Your Life. Being 18 I am still reasonably young, but one turning point that happened was when I decided to just be happy with myself and not let judgements/ opinions from other people get to me. I guess from that point on I have become more eccentric and bubbly!

Day 12: Your Most Recent Accomplishment. Finishing my A-Levels at college! For two years I have worked reasonably hard to meet coursework deadlines and in the process my hands felt like they were dying from all the artwork and handwritten 500 word essays. I can only imagine the work being set in university, I actually can't wait!

Day 13: Comic! I based this on a penguin I have called Harold. Sometimes on Instagram when I take a photo I like to play a little game called #spotthepenguin. Follow me on Instgram if you like: gianneamparo.

Day 14: Your Favourite Fairy-Tale. I am in love with fairytales. I decided to draw the Disney version of Snow White as it reminds me so much of my childhood. Hopefully, when I do become a children's Illustrator  one day , I can focus on fairy-tales as it's an area that interests me.

Day 15: A Family Portrait. I come from a family of five, with me being the eldest out of me and my two brothers. Apologies to anyone who might be slightly embarrassed by this drawing but I was on a rush sketching this (I wanted to upload it on Instagram before the day ended).

Day 16: Inspiration. I am in love with quotes, especially the ones that are inspiring and help keep me motivated. This quote was the one that I felt was most relevant to me as I try my best to do things from the heart. When I do good things for people, that itself is such a good feeling. I also try to be selfless and put others ahead of me.

Day 18: Just A Doodle. As most doodles are, they are quite random sometimes. When I do get bored I doodle a lot with a biro and end up drawing things like this.

Day 19: Something New. I got out these items from a bag that I was recently using and drew a simple line drawing. I always take a camera wherever I go, just in case I see something that catches my attention. I also keep a sketchbook and journal with me to jot down my thoughts or draw whenever I feel like it.

Day 20: Something Orange. What's more orange than an orange? Haha that was a bad joke...but gotta love puns eh. I tried to go for a more 'kawaii' style here and I just think it's so adorable! *peace sign*

Day 21: Something You Want. Drawing is a way of how I express myself and it's just an absolute passion of mine. Something that I want one day is become a successful Illustrator and inspire people with my work. Even though I am still young and have a lot to learn, I really hope I can make a difference with my art; even if only people looked at my drawing for a few seconds and smiled at it, that itself would mean so much to me. I drew this on my birthday; I could have asked for something more materialistic but I am more concerned with creative ideas rather than 'things'.

Day 22: Something You Miss. One of the things I miss most is being in the Philippines with my family. It has been two years since I last saw them, and I miss them so much! I will be there again in a couple of weeks time too see them. One of the main reasons of why me and my family are going there (other than seeing them) is to celebrate my 18th birthday debut. Even though it was my birthday on the 21st of June, it's a formal tradition that most girls go through when they turn 18. I will definitely post some photos of the event in August. I am super excited!

Day 23: Something You Need. One of the things that I need to start doing is to love myself.  I probably have the lowest self-esteem/ confidence but I hope I can change this part of myself. It really is something that I need to do.

Day 24: A Couple. This drawing was inspired by my friends photograph of Shana & Tom. Whenever I catch them in moments like this it always makes me smile.

Day 25: Scenery. I used a reference image to create this drawing. One of the things that I like to do with my work is to be expressive, and with the colouring pencils I used I tried to go for a more loose and sketchy approach, which I quite enjoyed.

Day 26: Something You Don't Like. There is one thing in this world that I really don't like and that is Negativity. The people who bring out the worst in you, weighing you down. One negative comment could literally break someone apart in seconds and I think this really needs to stop, especially with bullying. I try to be the opposite to this as much as possible and try to bring the best out in people. I plan to talk about this issue in my upcoming blog post.

Day 27: Anything At All. On this day it was my brother's prom and so I decided to draw my experience from it, having the original photo alongside. This was the part where everyone was making their big entrances to get to the hotel; the scooters were the ones that caught my attention the most. The drawing pretty much summarises the rainy day. I tried a more child-like, 'doodly' approach and I ended up liking it.

Day 28: Someone You Love. My mum is probably one of my inspirations; she has taught me to do things from the heart, like being generous, giving people more without expecting something back and to also work hard in whatever I chose to do. Any relationship that we all have with anybody (parents, siblings, friends, etc) at some point is difficult, but me and my mum have pretty much been through everything together.

Day 29: A Place You Want To Go To. One of the things that I would love to do when I'm older after I find work, is to travel. I really admire European architecture and one of the top places that I have always wanted to go and visit is Saint Basil's Cathedral. I don't know what it is about it but I have always admired the structure and its vibrancy.

Day 30: A "Congrats" Banner! Throughout the whole of June I have been drawing one day at a time and it has taught me the importance of practice, and in doing so improved my creativity and also time management. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I had so much fun.

This is a photo to show all the drawings I made, put together. (If you'll notice I was stepping on a ladder to capture this shot...I'm so small!)

To end the month I wrote a message, placed it inside my 18th birthday balloon and released it. I read somewhere that balloons don't actually go into space (it's a shame because I really wanted this to happen), but I hope that the piece of paper doesn't dissolve or anything like that...maybe someone might read it. I really wish that what I wrote comes true one day.

So that's what I did in June.
It's funny that in the beginning I saw myself as a child and having completed the challenge I feel slightly more mature.
I'm ending this post now before you all start getting bored of me, haha!

Leave a comment below if any of you have completed this 30 day drawing challenge, is in the process of doing it, or just want to comment to say hi. I would love to read some of your comments!
